Final Results London Borough of Hillingdon Junior school competition

We hosted the inaugural London Borough of Hillingdon Junior school competition on Sunday 2nd July 2023 at the Lady of Lourdes & St Michael Church Hall, Uxbridge.

6 rounds of Rapid play with time control of 25 minutes, no increment.


With over 44 juniors from 20 different schools taking part in the competition.

This proved to be a very competitive, friendly event enjoyed by all with prizes awarded to top school teams, players, year groups 1 & 2, Y 3 & 4, Y 5 & 6 plus top female player.


The Final round matchup paired the top two Jack Vs Vedansh, with the remarkable young (year 2) Vedansh winning.

2nd place Jack Dorricott (Whiteheath Junior School, Ruislip) 5/6

3rd place Andreez Sheldon (St Marys Catholic School, Uxbridge) 5/6

The school team competition was extremely close, with 4 schools with 5 players on more competing, with top 5 players from a school, points added. Both teams on 17.5 points with Whiteheath School, Ruislip winning on board count.

Senior school competition also proved to be very close with both Karanvir, Shawn on 5 points.

This event is run by HECA Hillingdon & Ealing chess association and open to all schools and students, residents living in the London Borough of Hillingdon and local surrounding areas.


Assisted by Uxbridge Junior Chess Club (ECF Junior club of the year 22) who are an expanding club with many local chess coaches that teach at many schools in the area and aiming to try to get every school in the Borough with chess classes and part of the chess community.
