West London Academy a great success

We are delighted to inform the launch of West London Junior Chess Academy with the first session taking place on Sunday, 13th March at Uxbridge Junior chess club. Some of the top and emerging talents from West London counties Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Middlesex were invited to take part. Junior clubs such as Uxbridge JCC, Watford JCC, Buckinghamshire.

The 4 hour long session, which started off with tactical puzzles, was divided into 3 groups - Botvinnik, Alekhine and Capablanca. Some of the top coaches from West London such as CM David Okike, Roger Lancaster and Yogit Senthilnathan took turns to cover Endgames , d4-Nf6 opening and Sicilian defence. We also expect to see FM Tanmay Chopra as part of the coaching staff as we move along this journey.

The sessions themselves were quite intensive and interactive with lots of different ideas coming forward from our junior talents and finally ended with couple of blitz games (5min +3sec increment) but perhaps the best part was that there was no cost associated with these sessions - a nobel cause to help juniors raise their understanding of opening, middle and endgame concepts.

The West London Junior chess academy has a long term objective to help juniors (especially the one's who cannot afford expensive chess classes) reach master's level. We hope to carry forward this vision in the coming weeks and months but do watch this space for exciting updates from us.

Thanks and regards Sandeep
